Questo portale è uno strumento per promuovere l’equità nella salute all’interno di differenti gruppi socio-economici nella Comunità Europea.
Le informazioni contenute sono il risultato della collaborazione di un ampio numero di operatori in campo sanitario e sociale, già convogliati in due iniziative pan-europee che avevano l’obiettivo di stimolare l’azione per migliorare l’equità.
La prima di queste iniziative è stata capeggiata dalla Commissione dell’OMS sui determinati sociali della saute, che ha pubblicato i risultati delle sue ricerche nel rapporto: “Closing the Gap in a Generation” .
La seconda iniziativa, il progetto "DETERMINE 2007-2010” , si fonda sulle basi di “Closing the Gap”, e sulla costituzione del Consorzio Europeo per l’Azione sui Determinanti Socio-economici di salute, con lo scopo di portare avanti il lavoro della Commissione dell’OMS in un contesto europeo.

European Portal for Action on Health Equity
This portal is a tool to promote health equity amongst different socio-economic groups in the European Union. Here, you can find information on policies and interventions to promote health equity within and between the countries of Europe, via the socio-economic determinants of health. The information presented is the result of the collaboration of a wide range of health and social actors in the EU, that have come together in two pan-European initiatives that aims to stimulate action for greater health equity. The first of these was Closing the Gap: Strategies for Action to Tackle Health Inequalities in the EU’ (2004-2007). ‘The second initiative, "DETERMINE 2007-2010” , which builds ‘Closing the Gap’, establishes an EU Consortium for Action on the Socio-economic Determinants of Health (SDH), which aims to take forward the work of the WHO Commission on the SDH in an EU context.
